Not very far at all from Babylon, about 10-15 minute drive, is Robert Moses state park.
There you can find a pretty nature board walk that leads to the light house. The park continues and turns into Fire Island the further east you go. Fire Island is another chapter thought and I intend to explore it more this coming summer.
